Making Graduation Caps
Graduating from kindergarten or another children's program is an important event that parents, guardians, teachers, and the young students themselves will take great pride in. Even if the ceremony itself does not include graduation caps, you can make one at home out of simple materials for your young graduate. This craft also works well for teachers or coaches of such a program who want to take the time to make these caps for their graduates.
Things You'll Need
- Blue or red plastic bowl
- Blue or red cardstock
- Scissors
- Yellow yarn
- Craft glue
- Tape
Instructions
-
-
1
Cut off the rim of a red or blue plastic bowl to fit onto a child's head.
-
2
Cut a matching red or blue piece of cardstock into an eight-by-eight inch square. Carefully punch a hole in the center of the cardstock using the tip of a scissor blade.
-
-
3
Use craft glue to attach the square to the top of the cut bowl, facing the bowl with the open end downward. Hold in place for a few seconds to secure.
-
4
Wind free end of yellow yarn around three fingers five times. Take off fingers and hold in a bunch with one hand. Cut off twelve inches of yarn after the wound yarn. Use the new free end to wrap twice around the top part of the bunch, tying the yarn to itself and leaving about a foot of free yarn. Cut off the loops in the bunch to create the tassel.
-
5
Put the end of yarn without the tassel into the hole, allowing half an inch to go through. Secure to the inside of the cap with a piece of tape.
