How to Plant Burpee Supersteak Hybrid Tomato Seeds
Tomatoes require warm temperatures to grow well. Burpee Supersteak Hybrid tomatoes are a disease-resistant variety. The Burpee Company developed this tomato cultivar so that it produces very large fruit weighing up to 2 lbs. each. It takes around 80 days for the Supersteak Hybrid to mature. This indeterminate tomato plant usually reaches 36 to 40 inches in height. Sowing Burpee Supersteak Hybrid tomato seeds indoors takes weeks off the growing season. Sow the tomato seeds five to six weeks before the last spring frost date. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Soak the peat pellets in a bowl of warm water for 15 minutes. Remove the pellets from the water, and place them on a 2-inch-deep tray. Let the pellets sit for 10 minutes, and then drain the excess water from the tray.
-
2
Poke a 1/4-inch hole in the center of the peat pellets with the eraser of a pencil. Drop a Supersteak Hybrid tomato seed into each of the holes.
-
-
3
Brush some of the soil into the hole so the tomato seeds are covered. Wedge craft sticks into the corners of the tray between the peat pellets and the tray sides.
-
4
Cover the tray with a sheet of clear plastic. This will preserve the moisture in the peat pellets. Move the tray to an area with bright light and warm temperatures around 85 degrees Fahrenheit.
-
5
Check the moisture content of the peat pellets each day, and spray them with water whenever they start to dry. Remove the plastic when the tomato seeds sprout in five to 10 days. Once the tomato seedlings reach 2 to 3 inches tall, plant them into individual pots.

Tips & Warnings
Burpee Supersteak Hybrid tomatoes are an indeterminate variety of tomatoes. This means the tomato plant does not stop growing once it produces fruit. Supersteak Hybrid tomato plants keep growing and producing fruit until the plant is killed by the first hard fall frost. The productive period of this plant lasts two to three months.
Do not let the temperature fall below 50 F, which will stop tomato seed germination.
Temperatures above 90 F will kill developing tomato sprouts.
