How to Adjust a C-Band Dish
In order to obtain the optimal signal from your C-Band satellite dish, an accurate alignment of the azimuth and elevation need to be achieved. Whether a storm knocked off the alignment or a neighborhood cat accidentally bumped your dish, a few degrees either way can affect the signal strength of your satellite connection. Waiting for a repairman to adjust your dish can take a few days, but doing it yourself can be simple and have you watching your favorite shows again in no time.

1
Find the elevation and azimuth of your location by going to the Dish Pointer website or the DirectTV Dish Pointer site if you have a C-Band dish from Direct TV. Write down your coordinates for your reference before you attempt to adjust your dish.
-
2
Adjust the C-Band dish's elevation and azimuth angles. Locate the elevation and azimuth degree markers on the back of the satellite's dish plate and base. Using pliers or a screwdriver, loosen the bolts that secure the side-to-side movements to adjust the azimuth. Loosen the bolts that secure the up and down movements to adjust the elevation.

3
Find a friend to help monitor the signal strength while you are adjusting your dish. For C-Band dishes, a signal strength between 80 to 100 is considered a strong signal.

4
Tighten the bolts to properly secure the satellite dish.
