How to Install an Audiovox Car Alarm

Audiovox, a car accessories company, produces a line of car alarms that claim simple installation. These alarms can be quickly wired and mounted so you can keep your car safe without adding a significant amount of hassle to your day. Even with easy installation, adding a car alarm requires some knowledge of car mechanics. If you are unfamiliar with alarms or engines, ask a car-savvy friend or family member for installation assistance.

      Mount the siren of the Audiovox alarm in the engine compartment using a drill and screws. Drill two holes, 3/16-inch in diameter. Use the back of the siren as a template for the alarm distance. Secure the siren with two of the supplied screws. Connect the siren's red wire to the positive post of your car's battery using an included ID ring terminal. Connect the siren's black wire to a grounded vehicle part.

      Drill holes in the dash, using the back of the control module as a template. Mount the control module to the passenger side of the dash using the included screws.

      Mount the hood switch to a grounded metal surface on the inside of the hood. Drill a hole and secure the switch with a screw. Mount the control switch of the alarm to the underside of the dash using the same mounting techniques you used for the control panel. Mount the shock sensor to the top of the dash using the same mounting techniques you used for the control panel.

      Install the LED light in a visible location such as the dash. Drill a hole, 3/8 inch in diameter, and slide the housing of the LED light into the hole. Push the LED light into the housing.

      Install the starter relay to a grounded part of the car, near the starter solenoid wire of the ignition switch. Drill holes and mount the starter relay using the same techniques you used for mounting the control panel.

      Arm your alarm by pressing the top button of the transmitter once.
