Porcelain enamel probably coats many objects in your home such as a bathtub, sink or stove top. Over time, porcelain enamel can wear down or become chipped, which is very unattractive. But you don't have to replace these items because the enamel is damaged. Instead, refinish them by coating them in porcelain enamel glaze.   • Steel wool
  • Cloth
  • Bowl
  • Porcelain glaze
  • Paintbrush, 4-inch flat

Instructions

    • 1

      Clean off the surface of the porcelain object using steel wool. Scrub the steel wool over the entire surface using small, circular motions.

      Wipe off the surface using a cloth.

      Combine porcelain enamel glaze in a bowl with water in the proportions of 2 parts porcelain glaze to 1 part water. Mix well.

      Paint the surface of the object with a layer of porcelain enamel glaze. Allow the porcelain to dry completely.

      Paint a second layer of porcelain enamel glaze over the first layer, and allow it to dry. Paint on as many layers of the glaze as you want to achieve the desired result.
