LED lights are used in cars, motorcycles and traffic signs.

LED lights are prized by car and motorcycle enthusiasts for their ability to provide bright, long-lasting, highly customizable effects. By changing the color and location of LED lights, you can create any effects you want on the road. If you want to replace the LED lights on your motorcycle, the process is rather simple, primarily requiring a little re-wiring. This procedure does assume experience with electronic wiring, so for safety reasons, consider consulting your motorcycle dealer before you begin.

    • 2

Remove the motorcycle seat. Disconnect the original LED light wiring from the motorcycle battery, and discard the old LED lights and wires.

    • 3

With alcohol prep pads, clean the areas where you will be installing your new LED lights. Remove the adhesive backing on your LED lights, and press your lights firmly to your motorcycle body. Pull the wiring from the LED lights through the frame of the body and into the motorcycle seat, where the battery is located.

Connect the LED light wiring. Firstly, gather the black wires into a wire clamp. Gather the red wires into a wire clamp.

    • 5

Connect 18-gauge black wire to the black wire clamp. Connect 18-gauge red wire to the red wire clamp. Connect the black wire to the negative terminal of your battery, and the red wire to the positive terminal.

Replace the motorcycle seat. Your LEDs should turn on, but if not, check the battery connection as well as the clamp connections to ensure that they are secured well.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure that you are permitted, in your state, to install LED lights on your vehicle. Consider installing a charge control switch that allows you to toggle your LED lights on and off at will.
