How to Write a Middle School Book
Writing a book report in middle school is a requirement in many schools. Most English teachers require students to write several reports throughout their middle school careers. Some teachers offer the students a book report form that outlines the precise way the report should be done. Other teachers allow students to choose a style of book report. Some styles include making a poster, creating a newspaper page that explains the book and its characters or making a diorama that explains the book.

1
Read a book. The first step in writing a book report is choosing and reading a book. Teachers generally must approve the book. In middle school, several book reports are generally required and the books must come from different categories such as fiction, non-fiction and fantasy.

2
Complete the book report form. If the teacher gives a book report form, the student must simply fill in the blanks. The form asks the student's name, book title, author, type of book and main characters. The form also asks the student to write a summary of the beginning, middle and ending of the book chosen. The form also asks if the student's opinion on several issues including if the student enjoyed the book, what he liked about it and if he would recommend it to others.

3
Create a poster. Some middle school teachers allow students the opportunity to write book reports in non-traditional ways such as a collage poster. In this case, the student would take a poster board and attach pictures, sayings and other pertinent information relating to the book. A collage poster has the title of the book, author and main characters on it. It also contains pictures and quotes that summarize the story.

4
Construct a newspaper page. This can be done on construction paper, paper board or regular plain paper. This page should contain a newspaper title, date and stories regarding the book. It should contain stories that would be pertinent to the time the book was written and about the characters and place the book talked about.

5
Create a diorama. Take an old shoe box and create a scene within the box that relates to the book. Almost anything can be used when building this box including toys, clay, and dirt. Create a scene that explains the plot of the book. Most teachers also require students to write a short paragraph explaining the scene.
