How to Measure a Bathtub

Before you start shopping for a new bathtub, you need the measurements of your current bathtub to ensure a perfect fit in your bathroom. A bathtub that is too small may look out of place in the bathroom, and one that is too large may not fit in the space allotted for the bathtub. An over-sized bathtub may also reduce the amount of space in the bathroom. Use a regular tape measure to take the measurements of your current bathtub.

Instructions

1. Measure the length of the bathtub. Place the end of the tape measure on one end of the length of the tub, and then pull it to the other side. Read the measurement off the tape and record it.

2. Place the end of the tape measure on one end of the width of the tub and pull it to the other side. Read and record the measurement.

3. Measure the height of the tub. Take the measurement from the floor to the top of the bathtub. Use the measurements when you go shopping for a new bathtub.
