Chain link fence is used around residential as well as commercial properties for security, protection and to create areas for children and pets. Chain link fence installation requires that the metal mesh fence material be stretched from one metal fence post to another. The fence must then be secured to the vertical fence posts as well as the horizontal top rails to hold the chain link in place. Does this Spark an idea?

  • Gloves
  • Chain link fence hook ties

Instructions

    • 1

      Begin at one end of the chain link fence line or in a corner. Put on a pair of gloves to protect hands while working.

      Stand on the side of the chain link fence that covers the top rail.

      Hold a wire hook tie by the hook. Insert the straight end of the tie through an opening in the chain link fence just below the metal top rail of the fence.

      Place the hook of the wire tie around the horizontal metal mesh of the chain link fence. Apply tension to the wire tie to hold the hook in place. Grip the wire with pliers and wrap the short end of the wire around the chain link to secure it in place.

      Pull the straight end of the wire tie around the back and then across the top of the top rail.

      Insert the straight end of the wire tie through one of the chain link openings. Grip the wire with pliers and wrap the wire around the chain link fence.

Tips & Warnings

  • Install hook wire ties every 24 inches along the top rail to secure it in place.
