Instructions

    • 1

Sprinkle a thick dusting of baking soda over the entire carpet and let sit for about three hours.

    • 2

Vacuum your carpet to collect the baking soda.

    • 3

Fill a spray bottle with white vinegar. Mist across the carpeting, especially where pets spend a lot of time throughout the day. Let the carpet air dry. Remember to mist the carpet, not saturate as too much moisture can lead to mildew growth and musty smells.

Use a steam cleaner on occasion for heavier odors. Fill the cleaning solution canister of the steam cleaning unit with 2 cups white vinegar and fill the water canister with water. Push across the carpeting just as you would a vacuum. The combination of steam power and white vinegar will not only remove odor, but also kill bacteria and lift any stains that may be present on the carpeting. Keep an eye on the water and cleaning solution canisters, and refill as needed when the fill lines are low.
