How to Paint Small Bathrooms With Slanted Walls
In many homes, builders opt to install bathrooms in small, odd-shaped areas. This optimizes the square footage of the house, such as using the space under a staircase, for example. However, in such irregular spaces the walls are often slanted, giving a claustrophobic quality to the bathroom. Using good decorating ideas about how to paint the slanted walls can help the room to appear larger and more comfortable. The good news is that it takes a very short time to paint a room so small. 1
Paint the slanted walls of the bathroom the same color as the ceiling. Painting them both the same color gives the impression that the slanted wall is actually part of the ceiling. This is a design mechanism that makes the bathroom look larger than if the walls and ceilings were different colors.

Choose a shade of white paint or a very pale pastel color for the ceiling and walls. Cool tones such as light mint green and sky blue are also good choices. Neutral colors such as light beige can also suffice. Light shades of paint open up a small space and give the viewer the impression that the room is larger. Avoid dark or saturated colors such as teal, dark red, black, brown or navy blue.

Outline a window or mirror in a bright splash of color to complement and contrast with the pale, calming, lighter shade on the walls and ceiling to add interest. Do not overdo the application of dark colors, however. Too many such details can make the space seem cluttered and smaller.

Coordinate the paint you choose with the floor color. The floor should also be a light color, and the wall and ceiling paint should go well with it.

Tips & Warnings
Install enough recessed lighting to light your small bathroom evenly and make it pleasantly bright. Recessed lighting does not take up any room space and the brightness makes the room seem larger.
A large mirror can help open up a small bathroom space. If possible, have it reflect a window or at least a painting or photograph on the opposite wall. Line the mirror in a series of small bulb fixtures to eliminate shadows on the face of the person using it.
Avoid putting a lot of accessories such as extra towel baskets or wall racks in the bathroom to keep the look spacious and calm.
