Troubleshooting Frigidaire Ice Makers
Frigidaire ice makers are installed in Frigidaire brand refrigerators, including the traditional refrigerators with the top-mounted freezer and the Frigidaire side by side refrigerator with the freezer on the left side of the unit. As you use your ice maker, you may begin to notice it is not performing at its best. If so, you do not need to rush to call a service technician. Since the problem can be something small, you can do some troubleshooting on your own. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Move the freezer temperature control knob setting to a colder temperature if you have ice cubes that are freezing together. Not using the ice cubes regularly or having hollow ice cubes can also cause this problem. Regularly empty the ice maker if you are not using the cubes regularly. For hollow cubes -- frozen outside with water inside -- simply change the filter cartridge.
-
2
Select the "Quick Ice" option if the ice maker is not making ice quickly enough for you. With this selection, it makes 50 percent more ice for each 24-hour period. Normally, the ice maker produces around 4 pounds of ice every 24 hours.

3
Push the signal arm down into the "ON" position if your ice maker is not making any ice. It must be on to make ice cubes.
-
4
Look at the ice maker to see if there are any cubes stuck or lodged in it. A stuck ice cube can result in either an ice maker that doesn't stop producing ice or that doesn't start producing ice. Use a plastic utensil to free the stuck ice cube.
