How to Train for a MCSE Course
Becoming a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer requires you to take a certification exam that tests your competency in Microsoft programs and platforms. If you pass the exam, you will receive your MCSE certification, which can increase your professional development opportunities in the computer sciences field. MCSE courses are available for prospective students who have goals of obtaining their certification. These courses are designed to train students on the areas that they will be tested on for the certification exam.

1
Use the computer to look up MCSE training courses on the Internet. Read about the various online programs and compare the course descriptions to find a program that is right for you. Make sure to read about the program costs and understand what it is that the program will supply you with, such as study materials, practice tests and available instructors to direct questions to. Read reviews about the program from others who have experienced it and shy away from those that do not appear professional.
-
2
Go to the bookstore or library to purchase MCSE study guides, in addition to the materials that are provided by the training course. Use the study guides as additional resources that will offer you new practice questions or alternative perspectives on theories and concepts. Take the opportunity to obtain as much information about the MCSE exam as you can so that you are as prepared as possible.

Create a study schedule that you can commit to. Write your study time into your daily calendar or appointment book to make sure there is designated time for it. Set up an automated prompt or alarm on your cell phone, PDA or computer to send reminders of when it is time for you to study. Prepare yourself with study supplies, such as highlighters, sticky notes and page tabs. Mark your study materials as you find questions or parts that require special attention.
-
4
Check the Internet to see if you can find a MCSE study group in your area. Join a study group if one exists, or start one for you and others. Use a study group as a means for sharing MCSE study questions with other individuals, working through tough concepts and supporting one another through the rigorous course.
-
5
Practice taking mock certification exams. Research the structure of the exam that you will have to take at the end of the MCSE course to find out what to expect. For instance, according to Microsoft Learning, prospective MCSE's must pass seven exams, including topics on networking systems, client operating systems, design and an elective exam. Read about each exam that is offered on the Microsoft Learning website.

Schedule your exam, giving yourself plenty of time in advance to study. Exams are offered at different times, so all seven exams will not be completed in one day. Write down the exam fees so that you can budget your money for the expense accordingly.
