How to Use My Business Degree for Christ

Many choose to use their talents and skills as a gift to God.

For many people, their religious beliefs and affiliations take precedence over their academic and professional pursuits. Not all those who devote their lives to God become priests, pastors or spiritual counselors; some choose to serve God in a more practical application, such as earning a business degree. If you've earned a business degree and are now wondering how to apply these principles to a life dedicated to Christ, remember Christ's words, "The kingdom of God lies within you."

Instructions

1. Determine the type business you would like to work in, such as working for a major corporation, for yourself or with a nonprofit. Some people might assume that using your business degree for Christ means working at a church or a Christian organization, but you aren't limited to these options. It doesn't matter what kind of business you go into, as long as the profession is ethical, serves humanity and doesn't conflict with the principles of the Bible.

2. Demonstrate the principles exemplified by Christ when dealing with your coworkers and customers. Although you are in business to make a profit, never put money before people. Always be honest and treat with people with respect and integrity.

3. Hire people who have the same principles as you. This goes for individuals who use their business degree to start their own business. During the interview process, explain that your number one business objective is to serve Christ at every opportunity. You should draw up a list of scenarios to present potential employers with, to determine whether their principles and behavior are right for your company.

4. Pray before making important business decisions. Go within and seek Christ's guidance. If you feel in your gut that a decision is wrong, even if it will bring you profit, don't make it. If you aren't sure how you feel, pray and wait until you are sure before making a decision. Be patient and know that events will have the best outcome if you remain true to yourself.

5. Read the bible regularly. Read the bible before, during and after work. Remain centered in God's word so that as you go about your business dealings, you remember your true purpose.
