How to Repair an Ironman Watch

If your Ironman watch needs serious repair, the Timex Corp. strongly recommends that you take in the watch to a watch retailer, jeweler or send it to Timex's TG Service Center to make the repairs. There are a few minor repairs you can perform on your own, such as replacing a broken watchband or replacing the battery in the Ironman watch. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

  1. Replace Bands

    • 1

Lay the watch face down on a flat surface covered by a soft cloth to protect the face of the watch.

    • 2

Using a small flat-head screwdriver or spring bar tool, place the tool between the end of the watch's spring bar (the bar holding the current watchbands in place) and the case slot the spring bar is plugged into.

    • 3

Maneuver the tool so as to compress the spring bar toward the watchband and away from the slot it's plugged into. When the spring bar fully retracts from its slot, the broken watchband comes off.

    • 4

Insert the spring bar into the replacement watchband. The ends of the spring bar should protrude a little from both sides of the band.

    • 5

Plug one end of the spring bar (protruding from the watchband) into one of the watch case's slots. Use the tool to compress the other end of the spring bar in order to maneuver it into the opposite slot. Wiggle the band to make sure the spring bar has fully snapped into place.

    Replace Battery

    • 6

Check the battery case located on the back of the Ironman watch. The battery type required for the model of Ironman watch you're using should be printed on the case. Purchase a new battery for the watch.

    • 7

Lay the watch face down on a flat surface covered by a soft cloth to protect the face of the watch.

    • 8

Use a small screwdriver to remove the watch's battery cover. The battery inside the watch might be covered with a label. If it is, gently lift off the label.

    • 9

Make a mental note of how the current battery is installed (generally with the positive side facing up). Take out the currently installed battery. The battery might be held in place by a clamp. Use a small pin or screwdriver to release the clamp. If the clamp is not held in place by screws, look for a small hole near the clamp's latch that might be serving as a lock release. Insert the pin in the hole, then pull the latch out.

    • 10

Insert the new battery. Be sure to position the battery with the correct side facing up. Put the clamp back on. Place the label back. Put the battery cover back on.
