According to social media trend-watching site Mashable, Facebook alone had more than 400 million users worldwide as of February 2010. With that many users, the odds that you may be able to find the person you're seeking are favorable.

Perform a bit of detective work. Ask mutual friends or family members if they know of your lost friend's whereabouts. Using social networking sites, search through mutual friends' lists of friends for the person you are trying to find.

Search for your lost loved one using websites websites like People Finder and Intellius. These sites often provide a person's location and contact information. However, they may charge you for the information.

Search the White Pages if you believe your friend or relative may still live in the local area. Or type the person's name into Google. Many times, search results can yield clues or contact information.
