Installation of a Ferrite Bar Antenna

If you open up your personal radio, you will find a large metal component. This is the internal antenna assembly of the radio. You will also notice a grayish black portion of the assembly. This is the ferrite rod. If you have been having problems with your antenna, you may want to try replacing the rod.

Instructions

1. Turn off your radio and remove all screws holding the back panel to the radio unit. Remove the back of the radio to expose the metal antenna inside.

2. Locate the ferrite bar on the antenna. This is the grayish black cylindrical piece of the antenna. It will be wrapped in metal coiling.

3. Loosen the bar from its adhesive and slide it out of the coiling. Set the old bar aside.

4. Slide a new ferrite bar through the coiling and insert it into the port in the end of the antenna and into the adhesive. The new bar is now installed.
