How to Take the Door Panel Off Vehicles

Vehicles door panels serve a threefold purpose. They offer sound insulation Vehicles the passenger compartment of the Vehicles. Door panels embellish the interior trim package. They also hide the door access holes necessary to repair and or replace interior door components such as window regulators, window motors, door locks and door latches. With all that in mind, there are a number of reasons why you might need to take the door panel off a Vehicles.

Pry up the plastic screw cover in the door pull trim. This is a small plastic tab in the middle of the door pull, behind the handle. Behind the screw cover is a Phillips screw. Undo and remove the screw.

Take the Phillips screw out of the door pull cup in the handle on the inside of the door. When the screw is out, pry the cup out of the door handle.

Pry up and pull out the switch panel for the power windows and door locks. Disconnect the wiring plugs on the back and remove it from the door panel.

Pry off the sail panel, which is the triangular plastic piece at the leading edge of the window and door.

Pry around the edges of the door with your panel tool to release all of the retaining clips. Lift up and out to remove the panel from the door proper.

 How to Take the Door Panel Off a Pontiac

Pry the window switch bezel out of the door panel with the trim tool. Disconnect the wiring harness from the switch by hand. Remove the screw behind the bezel with the Phillips screwdriver.

Remove any screws behind the door pull or behind the interior door handle with the Phillips screwdriver. The amount and location depend on your year and model Pontiac.

Remove the screws located at the bottom and side of the door panel with the Phillips screwdriver. The number and location of the screws depend on your year and model Pontiac.

Pry the lower trailing edge of the door panel away from the door with the trim tool. Look between the panel and door skin to locate any trim pins. Not all Pontiacs have trim pins holding the door panel to the door, however, if yours does, pry them loose with the trim tool.

Lift the door panel up and off the door by hand.

 How to Take the Door Panel Off a Toyota Camry

Roll the window down and open the door as wide as possible. Use a flat-head screwdriver to gently pry the plastic triangle-shaped panel off that is near the sideview mirror.

Pull the interior door handle back to access a small plastic circular cap. Pop this cap out with a flat-head screwdriver and use a Philips screwdriver to remove the screw behind it. Remove another plastic cap located on the armrest and remove the screw hidden behind it. Remove one last plastic cap and screw near the front of the door. Locate and remove the two screws under the armrest and the two screws near the very bottom of the door panel.

Remove the plastic housing from around the door handle by gently prying it off with a flat-head screwdriver. Insert the door panel removal tool between the door panel and the door. Use it to move along the outer edges of the panel and pry it up to pop the six plastic clips off the door.

Lift the door panel up and away from the car. Unhook the top of the panel from the top of the door by tilting the bottom of the panel up towards the window. Reach behind the panel and unplug the wiring harness connection between the window controls and the door.

 How to Take Off a Door Panel on a 1991 Chevy S10

Open the driver side door and locate all of the securing screw that are running along the frame of the door.

Pry the window knob off of the door using the flat head screw driver. Slide the flat head screw driver between the door panel and the bottom of the widow know. Gently lift up on the flat head screw driver as you move the screw driver around the circumference of the knob until the knob pops off.

Remove the securing screws from around the edge of the door frame on the side and the bottom. Place the securing screws in a safe place where you will not lose them.

Pull the door panel off of the door frame ans place in a clean dry storage place.
