How to Retrieve an AWS Keypair
Access to the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud application is protected by the use of the special credentials associated with your account. The credentials are created and verified based on the encrypted access keys. The Amazon Elastic Cloud service uses the key pairs to identify users during a login procedure. The match between the public key, kept by AWS, and a private key that the user creates and stores in a secret location allows AWS to retrieve the key pair necessary for access to the user data and applications.
