How to Set Up Printing in Terminal Services

Windows Terminal Services is a remote control application used on Windows server operating systems. The software was later renamed to "Windows Remote Desktop," and it is included with Windows client computers. To print to a Terminal Server, you must enable printers in the Remote Desktop connection settings. This means you can print to the server's printers or your local desktop printers from the computer running Terminal Services.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the Windows "Start" button on your computer. Click "All Programs," then click "Accessories," then click "Remote Desktop Connection." The connection configuration window opens.

    • 2

Click the "Local Resources" tab. This tab shows you several options to share with the Terminal Server. Check the box labeled "Printers." This check box enables printing from the Remote Desktop connection.

    • 3

Click the "General" tab. Type the server name to which you want to connect. Click "Connect." When you log in to the Terminal Server, click the "Start" button and select "Devices and Printers." Notice your local printers and the server's printers are available to you.
