1. Determine your eligibility for a spelling bee. According to Scripps National Spelling Bee requirements, in order for a student to be eligible for a spelling bee they must meet several criteria. These criteria include, but are not limited to, the student's age and grade level, involvement in prior spelling bees, and the school's registration status.

2. Check to see if your school is registered with the Scripps National Spelling Bee registry. E.W. Scripps company is a non-profit educational program that sponsors local spelling bees. Ask your school for more information or visit their website to request additional information.

3. Ask a teacher to help you register for the spelling bee. Schools that are registered with the Scripps National Spelling Bee registry should have received all of the registration information regarding your school's spelling bee. Your teacher should be able to register you for the spelling bee and provide you with additional materials such as word study lists and pronunciation guides when you register.
