How to Make a Toilet Bowl Freshener
Toilet bowl odors caused by buildup of bacteria make your bathroom smell unpleasant even when it is clean. While commercial toilet cleaners and fresheners effectively remove odors, they contain chemicals that are toxic to people and pets, and they are not always the best choice for the environment. Homemade toilet fresheners are simple to make utilizing supplies commonly found around the home. Regular freshening and cleaning with homemade products may help you keep your bathroom smelling fresh. Things You'll Need
- 1/4 cup baking soda
- 1 cup white vinegar
- 3 drops eucalyptus essential oil
- Toilet bowl brush

Flush the toilet to dampen the surface of your toilet bowl.

Sprinkle 1/4 cup baking soda over the surface of the toilet bowl and leave it for 10 minutes to deodorize the surface.

Pour 1 cup white vinegar into the toilet bowl, making sure to pour it over the baking soda. The two ingredients will start to foam, which is natural and safe. The foaming solution cleans the inside of your toilet bowl while both ingredients absorb unpleasant odors.

A few drops of eucalyptus oil go a long way. Place 3 drops essential oil of eucalyptus into the mixture in the toilet. Eucalyptus oil kills fungi that contribute to smelly toilet odors. Leave the three ingredients in the toilet for at least an hour.

Regular cleaning helps to cut down on toilet odors. Scrub the interior of the toilet with a toilet blush. Flush the toilet to remove the freshening solution.

Tips & Warnings
Pour 2 cups white vinegar in the toilet tank to clean bacteria and other odor-causing substances. Leave the vinegar in the tank overnight then flush the toilet the next morning.
Substitute 1/2 cup borax and 1/4 cup lemon juice for an alternative toilet freshening solution.
