How to Build an Exercise Recovery Board
Exercise routines should be a combination of activities that both exert energy and allow the body to recover. Recovery boards are designed to be used between stations in a circuit workout. While using the board, the heart rate is maintained in the active level, but the individual can collect her breathing and allow her muscles to relax before starting the next station. Recovery boards are simple pieces of equipment and can be made for home use.
Things You'll Need
- Measuring tape
- 2-by-4 lumber
- Circular saw
- ½-inch plywood
- Wood screws
- Drill
- 3-foot by 3-foot by ¼-inch rubber matting
- Wood glue
Instructions
-
-
1
Cut two 3-foot lengths of a 2-by-4, using a circular saw.
-
2
Measure and cut a 3-foot by 3-foot square of plywood with the circular saw.
-
-
3
Position the 2-by-4s so they are parallel to each other and 1 foot apart.
-
4
Center the plywood over the top of the 2-by-4s. Use the drill and wood screws to secure the plywood to the boards. There should be an equal overhang of plywood along both lengths of the 2-by-4s.
-
5
Spread wood glue over the top of the plywood, and position the rubber matting on the plywood. The edges of the matting should be flush with all edges of the plywood.
-
6
Allow the glue to dry overnight before using the recovery board.
