How to Install DSL Wiring
If you want faster Internet access that allows simultaneous telephone conversations and Web data transfer, then you can use a Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) Internet Service Provider (ISP). DSL automatically uses your built-in home telephone system and, unlike other telecommunications types, does not require additional hard wiring. Instead, you just need to wire from the phone socket in the wall. This requires a few types of cables and a filter, which are usually included with your router.
Instructions

-
1
Disconnect your phone from the main telephone socket in your house.
-
2
Insert the DSL line filter into the phone socket. This will be a small box that has connection jacks for a telephone and a smaller RJ-45 jack.
-
-
3
Connect the RJ-45 cable into the jack of the filter and the "Internet" port of your router.
-
4
Connect your telephone to the telephone jack of the filter. Connect the router to the power supply using the power cable.
-
5
Turn on your router. You now have set up the DSL wiring for your home network connection. Some routers require you to connect via a wired connection the first time. In this case, connect an Ethernet cable to the Ethernet jack of your computer and to the relevant jack in the router.
