  • Glass cleaner
  • Rags
  • Window-wetting solution
  • Window tint film
  • Squeegee
  • Straight edge
  • Sharp razor knife

      Wash the window inside and outside with glass cleaner and rags.

      Read your window tint's instructions to see if you need a wetting solution. Wetting solutions are a soapy liquid that helps the film adhere to the window. You can usually find them next to the window tints at home-improvement stores. Purchase the wetting solution that is recommend for your specific window film.

      Stick the window tint to the glass. Allow the excess tint to cover the window sash.

      Apply wetting solution to the film. Squeegee from the top of the window down in three strokes to remove air bubbles.

      Line a straight edge against the inside of the window sash. Remove the excess film by running a sharp razor between the straight edge and the window sash to make a straight cut. Repeat around the window until all excess tint is removed.

      Apply wetting solution to the tint again, and then pull the squeegee from the top down in three passes. The second coating will help the squeegee smooth out the tint without pulling it off the window.
