1
Attend class each day. Missing class affects your attendance record, sabotages your relationship with instructors and causes you to miss important classroom information. Be present and prepared for each class session.
-
2
Meet with your instructors regularly. Your teachers want you to succeed and will help you if you are a serious student. Stay after class or schedule a meeting with your instructor every few weeks. Review your grades and progress with him and ask for suggestions to accelerate your overall grade.

3
Stick to a study schedule. Purchase a planner and use it to write down your designated study times. Plan study sessions on the weekends, between classes, after work and during your lunch breaks. Always stick to your study schedule.
-
4
Become friends with students who are focused. Notice those who attend class daily, participate, earn good grades and turn in their assignments. Ask them for their phone numbers and email addresses. Call or email them when you need help with assignments. Plan study dates with them before mid-term and final exams.
-
5
Cut back on socializing. Decrease the time you spend talking on your phone, chatting online and attending parties. Schedule time with your family and close friends in advance.
-
6
Always complete your assignments. Not handing in work will lower your grades quickly. Consult with your instructor right away if you need help with an assignment.
-
7
Meet with an academic counselor regularly. Discuss your intent to accelerate your school grades and come up with a plan of action. Schedule an appointment with your counselor each month to discuss your overall progress.
