How to Feed Winter Birds Using an Onion Mesh Bag

Use an onion mesh bag to feed winter birds. Once you hang this bag in a tree, you'll see a great selection of winter birds such as chickadees, woodpeckers and nuthatches.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Onion Mesh Bags
  • Raw Suet
  • String Or Wire
  1. Step 1

    Buy beef suet in your grocer's meat department.

  2. Step 2

    Fill your empty onion mesh bag with the chunks of suet.

  3. Step 3

    Weave a plastic bag tie in and out of the top holes in the mesh bag.

  4. Step 4

    Hang the bag from a tree limb near a window.

Tips & Warnings
  • Once the birds have eaten all the suet, add more. Suet can be stored in the freezer.
  • Suet can get rancid in warm climates.
