The primary ingredients in many different beauty and health products, ammonia and glycerin are chemicals that can join forces to help clean your house as well. The glycerin in the mixture acts as a moisturizing conditioner, but when it is mixed with ammonia, the concoction turns into a homemade stain remover. If the ammonia and glycerin were mixed with other ingredients, such as oils, acids and butters, you can make a conditioning lotion. Mixing these two key ingredients can make for some helpful remedies.
- 600 ml beaker
- Bunsen burner
- Glycerin
- Stirrer
- Ammonia
Pour ¾ cup glycerin into a 600 ml beaker, and then heat the glycerin with a Bunsen burner. Turn on the gas to a medium setting, and then turn on the flame.
Wait until the glycerin has come to a boil, which should take 10 minutes, and then turn the heat down to low. The glycerin will begin to become a liquid and mesh together with ammonia.
Add ¼ oz. of ammonia compound to the heated glycerin beaker, and then mix the two compounds together. Turn the flame off to allow the glycerin and ammonia to fully combine with each other.
