How Do I Replace a Sharp Over-the-Stove Microwave Fuse?
A Sharp over-the-stove microwave is designed to save space in your kitchen. If your microwave suddenly will not turn on, you can probably count on the fact that your fuse has blown. The fuse is used to control the heat threshold inside the microwave. When this fuse blows, you will not be able to power it up. Changing out this fuse is not very hard, but you will have to remove the microwave from the cabinetry in your kitchen. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Go to your breaker box and turn off the breaker to your kitchen. Your electrician should have labeled the breakers when he installed them.
-
2
Open the cabinet directly over the microwave. Unplug the microwave from the electrical outlet. Remove the screws at the bottom of the microwave with a Phillips head screwdriver. Take the vent off of the bottom of the unit casing to gain access to the wall-mounting bracket.

-
3
Remove the screws from the top of the microwave and allow the microwave to fall forward. When it falls forward, it will be held on by the mounting bracket. Push up on the back of the microwave, and then lift it off.
-
4
Use your hands to wiggle the microwave out of the cabinetry in your kitchen. Use a screwdriver or a Torex bit to remove the screws holding the back panel to the unit casing on the microwave.
-
5
Look for the fuse panel inside the casing of the microwave. The fuse panel will be holding the fuse inside it. The fuse is a small clear bar that might be black because it has blown.
-
6
Pull the fuse out of the fuse panel and then replace it with your new fuse. Replace the back panel of the microwave, and the screws securing it to the unit casing.
-
7
Reinstall the microwave and plug it back into the electrical outlet and turn it on.
