How to Donate Subscriptions to Any Serviceman Overseas

Since 2001, charitable citizens could no longer send care packages, including magazine subscriptions, to "any service member." All magazine subscriptions must be sent to a specific serviceman or woman. If you would like to sponsor a magazine subscription to an unknown service person, you can still do so by sponsoring a charity that provides magazine subscriptions to service members that sign up for one or sending in your used subscription magazines or newspapers to be added into a care package.

Instructions

  1. Donate a Magazine Subscription

    • 1

Look through the subscription requests on Mags4Troops or another charity that donates magazine subscriptions. Each request includes the branch of the military and unit the service member is working in but doesn't include any personal information like gender or name.

    • 2

Click on the subscription(s) you want to sponsor. Each magazine subscription requires a different donation amount.

    • 3

Enter your debit or credit card number to pay for the subscription.

Donate Used Magazines or Other Publications

    • 4

Gather any of your old subscriptions that you no longer want. Make sure the materials are in good condition.

    • 5

Remove the subscription label with your name and address. This is optional.

    • 6

Send the subscription to a charity like The Hugs Project or Freedom Alliance that provide care packages to troops.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can't send any pornographic material or materials that are hateful or violent to a U.S. service member.
