How to Fix a F150 Rear Seat Belt

The F-Series is a line of full-size pickup trucks from the Ford Motor Company. The F-150 is the entry level truck. Other models include the 250, 350, 450, 550, 650 and 750. The 150 features a rear cab with seats that allow for three additional passengers to ride in the vehicle. Each seat includes a seat belt to be worn to prevent injury in the case of an accident or abrupt stop. The seatbelt may become tangled or fail to operate due to a broken mechanism within the retractor. Inspect the seat belt and fix accordingly.

Instructions

    • 1

Untwist a tangled seat belt. A seat belt that is tangled won't properly buckle.

    • 2

Place the tongue of the seat belt into the belt buckle.

    • 3

Pull down on the top portion of the seat belt to pull the seat belt webbing completely out of the retractor. This allows the seat belt to disengage the current locking mechanism.

    • 4

Release the belt and allow it to retract to the proper fit.

    • 5

Take your 150 into an authorized Ford technician or dealership. A seatbelt that isn't properly working may have a broken pretensioner or locking mechanism inside the retractor. A trained mechanic has the knowledge, experience and tools to properly diagnose the problem and fix accordingly.
