Instructions

    • 1

Using a wet cloth, clean the item that you will be spray painting. If you do not clean the item before you paint, dirt that may be on the item will eventually fall off and leave the original color showing.

    • 2

Sand the item using sandpaper. Sanding your item down before you spray paint it will scuff up the item, letting the spray paint adhere better. Use the masking tape to mask any part of the item that you do not want to paint. If you are painting the whole item, you do not need to use the masking tape.

    • 3

Shake the can of spray paint to mix the paint. Shake the can for at least one minute. There is a ball inside the paint can that helps to mix any paint that has settled. Mixing the paint will help the paint go on smoother and even out the color of the paint.

Hold the paint can 8 to 10 inches away from the item. Begin spraying by pressing the nozzle on top of the can. Move back and forth, releasing the nozzle after each stroke. Paint several thin coats and let the paint dry in between each coat. When you are finished, let the item dry for at least one hour before handling.
