Instructions

    • 1

Measure the height and width of the window to determine the size of fabric you will need. Add 6 inches to both the width and height to allow for hemming.

    • 2

Select a piece of fabric that fits the measurements to make a single curtain. Cotton works best, but you can use any non-gauzy fabric that can be ironed. If you plan to make two curtains that open in the middle, the fabric only needs to be half of the adjusted width measurement.

    • 3

Place the fabric face-down on a work table or on the floor.

    • 4

Hem the side edges with glue. To do this, apply a line of fabric glue along the right and left sides of each curtain. Fold 1 inch of material over, and smooth it down, bonding the hems with the glue. Use an iron to press the hems into crisp pleats. Hem the bottom of the curtains in the same way you did the sides.

    • 5

Hem the top of the curtains, but fold over 4 inches of material instead of just 1. Do not iron this edge. The fabric should be a loop instead of a pleat. Allow the glue to dry.

    • 6

Thread a curtain rod through the loop at the top of the curtain, and hang it over a window.
