To replace the oven glass, you must remove the oven door.

A kitchen range combines a stove and an oven in one and is either powered by gas, electricity or a combination of the two. The oven door on most ranges has a glass window that allows you to view the contents of the oven while the door is closed. If a heavy item is dropped on the glass, the glass will break. If the glass is broken, it must be replaced before using the oven again. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

      Turn off the oven breaker in your service panel.

      Open the oven door and remove any broken glass if the glass panel has broken. Wear gloves to protect your hands while removing the glass.

      Flip down the hinge locks on the oven door hinge slots using a flat-head screwdriver.

      Lift the door up and off the hinge pins and set it down on a solid, flat surface.

      Remove the two screws on the top of the inside panel that secure the door handle and then remove the door handle.

      Remove the screws on the bottom of the door that secure the inner frame to the outer frame.

      Separate the inner door frame from the outer door frame.

      Remove the screws above the hinges on the inner door frame. Lift the frame and remove the hinges.

      Turn the inner frame over and then remove the screws securing the glass frame retainer panel. Remove the panel.

      Remove any remaining glass and then remove the glass frame.

      Insert the new glass frame into the glass frame slot and then replace the glass frame retainer panel. Secure the panel using the screws that were removed. When installing the screws, alternate sides to ensure that the glass is straight, and do not overtighten.

      Turn the panel over and then insert the hinges from the bottom. Secure the hinges using the screws that were removed.

      Insert the inner door panel into the outer frame and then insert the screws on the bottom that were removed.

      Reinstall the door handle.

      Align the hinges with the hinge pins and then reinstall the oven door. Open the oven door completely and then push the hinge locks up to lock the door in place.

      Restore power to the range to complete the door glass replacement.
