How to Design a Backyard Wedding Game

How to Design a Backyard Wedding Game thumbnail
Outdoor weddings add ambiance to your celebration.

Weddings are events of joy and celebration no matter what time of year -- and the fun can be increased during the spring and summer months. Outdoor weddings and wedding receptions create a natural and scenic atmosphere without the clutter and seclusion of an indoor event. Creating an outdoor wedding game is a wise idea to enhance the excitement and entertainment. Be sure all games are appropriate for small children who may be attending. Ask all guests to bring casual attire along and include as many people as possible in your games to increase the fun.

Instructions

    • 1

List the guests who are attending or are invited to attend. Having a list in front of you gives you an idea of how many children, adults and seniors who will be arriving.

    • 2

Create a Frisbee disc competition for children. Calculate how many children from the groom's side of the family will be attending and how many from the bride's side of the family. Pair these children up into two large groups -- groom's family vs. bride's family -- and have them compete in a friendly game of flying discs. Turn the game into a friendly tournament by making small trophies for the winning team. Engrave a Frisbee for each one of the children as a souvenir.

Match adults up for a game of horse shoes. Spray paint the horse shoes and horse shoe pits blue and pink, respectively. Blue represents the groom and pink represents the bride. Challenge groomsmen and bridesmaids to engage in a friendly competition -- using their respective horse shoes. Ask other adults to join into the fun as the celebration progresses. Select alternate paint colors if you wish.

Draw a shuffle board onto a long strip of flat concrete on a driveway or walkway for seniors to get in on the fun. Assign the numbers -- usually designated as points -- to mean different types of trivia the bride and groom must divulge. For example, court markings usually labeled "7" -- for "7 points" -- can mean 7 loving characteristics that the bride or groom must name about the other. The court marking labeled "10" can mean 10 sites around the world the bride and groom would love to see. This game increases everyone's knowledge on the bride and groom and allows older guests to mingle and participate in the fun as well.
