Jetta TDI Snow Performance Installation
Owners of Jetta TDIs who want increased performance out of their vehicles might consider the installation of a Snow Performance water-methanol injection kit. How does it work? The kit injects a mixture of water and methanol into the engine's cylinders, which allows the engine to more efficiently burn diesel fuel and produce additional power without increasing fuel consumption.
Things You'll Need
- Cordless drill
- Phillips screwdriver
- Wrench set
- Utility knife
- 1/8-inch tap

1
Install the water-methanol reservoir by slipping the supplied reducer bushing into the reservoir outlet. Connect the 90-degree elbow to the bushing and turn it to tighten the elbow. Place the reservoir in the desired mounting location, typically in the trunk, and ensure that it will comfortably fit in the designated area. Check underneath the vehicle to make sure that no wiring or hose components will be affected when holes are drilled to mount the reservoir.
-
2
Drill through the vehicle's floor bed with a cordless drill in the spot where the reservoir mounting brackets will be secured. Secure the mounting brackets and reservoir in place with the supplied nuts and bolts.

3
Mount the Snow Performance system pump next to the reservoir tank. Position the pump so that there will be no sharp bends in the high-pressure hose leading out of the pump and to the reservoir. Measure the required length of hose and trim any excess length with a utility knife. Install the high-pressure hose to the pump by firmly pushing 1/2-inch of the hose into the gray locking collar.

4
Assemble the nozzle included in the kit by slipping the end of the nozzle covered with mesh screen inside the nozzle holder. Use a non-Teflon sealant to ensure a secure connection.
-
5
Locate the intercooler charge pipe, which is hard plastic and is near to the intake manifold inlet. Drill and tap two holes for the nozzles to be installed with a 1/8-inch tap. Screw the nozzles into the new holes and secure them a quarter-turn past hand-tight. Be sure to coat the nozzle holder assembly in a non-Teflon sealant for a tight fit.
-
6
Mount the kit's two solenoid mechanisms underneath the vehicle and connect the main reservoir line to the first solenoid inlet. Connect the outlet of the same solenoid to the pump inlet and outlet of the pump to the "T" provided in the kit. Continue by connecting one outlet of the "T" to one of the nozzles and the second outlet of the "T" to the second solenoid inlet. Complete the process by connecting the second solenoid outlet to the second nozzle.

Mount the in-cab controller inside the Jetta in a location easily accessible to the driver. Connect the black wiring from the controller to a ground source. Connect the white wire to the red power wire and place the first solenoid connectors with these wires. Connect the green wire from the controller to a black wire from the power solenoid and secure the second black solenoid wire to a ground. Complete the wiring by connecting the red wire to a positive 12-volt power source that is active while the key is turned to "On" in the ignition.

Once the wiring and installation is complete, test drive the vehicle to ensure that the system is working properly. You may also choose to remove a nozzle head from the intercooler charge pipe, holding it away from your body and visually inspecting the spray controlled by the in-cab module.
