How to Figure How Much Laminate Floor to Buy
When remodeling a room or your home, you may consider laminate flooring because it is durable, water resistant and resist wear better than hardwood floors. When buying laminate flooring for your home, you need to know the area that you will be covering and also account for waste so you do not end up having to make multiple trips to the store. Divide the space you want to cover with laminate flooring into rectangular sections.

Measure the length and width of each rectangular section in feet.

Multiply the length times the width of each section to find the area of each section in square feet. for example, if the length and width of a section equal 12 feet by 19 feet, multiply 12 by 19 to get 228 square feet.

Add the area of each section, if you have more than one, to find the total area.

Multiply the total measured area by 110 percent, or 1.1, to find the amount you should buy. For example, if your total equals 400 square feet, multiply 400 by 1.1 to get 440 square feet. The extra is to account for cuts and mistakes.
