How to Unclog a Kitchen Sink With Chemical Products
A blocked kitchen sink is messy and annoying. One easy way to unclog a blocked kitchen sink is to use a chemical cleaner, but try removing the blockage first with a plunger or by pouring boiling water down the sink. Chemical drain cleaners can effectively unclog slow-draining sinks but will not usually clear total blockages. The chemicals in drain cleaners are usually toxic and highly corrosive so carefully follow the manufacturer's instructions when using them and always wear rubber gloves and eye protection. Select the correct chemical drain cleaner for unclogging the sink. Use an alkaline cleaner if the blockage is made up of grease and an acidic cleaner if the clog is food waste or other organic materials. The label on the drain cleaner will indicate whether it's alkaline or acidic.

Put on protective eyewear and rubber gloves before opening the chemical drain cleaner.

Carefully read the manufacturer's instructions and take particular note of the amount of drain cleaner to use in the sink.

Remove the cap from the drain cleaner. Most chemical drain cleaners use child-proof safety caps so you may need to push down and twist the cap to open it.

Pour the cleaner into the drain and wait for 5 minutes. This gives the chemicals time to dissolve the clog.

Turn on the faucet and flush clean water down the sink drain. The chemical cleaner should now have unclogged the sink and the water will drain away.
