How to Edit a Navman DB File

Navman is a GPS (global positioning system) manufacturer that produces equipment ranging from hand-held devices to in-car monitoring hardware. All of the Navman GPS devices use a ".db" file, which is the map format used on the device. If you want to adjust the maps you have stored on your Navman or if you want to add new features, you can edit your Navman .db files and import new maps to the device.

Instructions

1. Download any new maps you want for the Navman GPS by accessing the Navman website (see Resources.)

2. Plug the USB data cable into the USB port on the Navman GPS, and then plug the opposite end of the cable into a USB port on your computer system.

3. Click "Start" followed by "Computer." Double-click the removable device icon. This loads a new window with all the maps and ".db" files stored on the GPS unit.

4. Select the .db files you no longer want stored on the device by clicking on the file, and then press "Delete." This removes the information from your GPS.

5. Import additional files into the Navman by clicking and dragging the downloaded information onto the GPS. This edits the Navman setup with your new GPS maps.
