How to Sync Windows to a CE 5.0-Based PND
If you're constantly on the go, odds are you use a personal navigation device, or PND. Many of the more recent PNDs come equipped with Windows CE, a compact version of the Windows operating system. PND manufacturers frequently update their databases with new maps and traffic light information, and they make this data available to users who have purchased their devices. You can obtain this information by syncing your Windows computer to a CE-based PND.

1
Connect your PND to your computer with its included USB cable.
-
2
Your computer will recognize the hardware and install any necessary drivers. It will open the program required to sync your device. This will probably take less than four minutes.
-
-
3
Select the "Device" tab, which will display all the data on your CE-based PND. Windows will communicate with the PND manufacturer's website and download map updates, traffic cameras and additional fixes.
-
4
Click the sync command, which will be called "Update Now," "Upload" or "Sync Now," depending on which device you're using. Windows will update your PND with new maps and additional data provided by your PND's manufacturer. The length of the updating process will depend on the size of the update; usually, this will only take two minutes maximum.
