How to Remove an Equinox Dash

by Daniel ValladaresUpdated July 17, 2023

The Chevrolet Equinox has a dashboard that is secured to the vehicle through several clips and screws. In order to remove the dashboard from the Equinox, you will need to remove these fasteners with either a slotted screwdriver or Torx screwdriver. It may take you over half an hour to completely remove the dashboard from the Equinox, but it is a fairly simple process that even a novice mechanic can perform without any difficulty.

Things You'll Need:

  • Socket wrench
  • Torx screwdriver
  • Slotted screwdriver

1. Park the Equinox and open its hood

2. Press down on the dash around the instrument cluster to reveal four Torx screws

3. Pry up on the dashboard starting in the lower-left corner

4. Pull up on the dashboard to remove it from the Equinox

  • On the 07 - 09 you change the heater core without removing the dash. Remove the riverside kickpanel there's plastic cover you remove and the core is right there. Once you unbolt the gas pedal you can cut the feed tubes on the core and pull it out. Cut the tubes on the new core in the same spot to slide back in. You can use a union to reconnect the tubes or what I did on mine was just use rubber line and clamps. Less than 2 hours. There's a decent walkthrough for it on YouTube if you look up the method.
  • This is a good video. He shows the right places to look at. If you don't understand what he's showing you don't try it.. I'm gonna be doing one of these so i thought i would watch a couple of these. I did a 99 caravan A/C evaporator and it's kinda the same. Take things apart until you see the firewall just do it all in one shot so you don't forget where everything goes. Do the work and don't cut a new part in half or take it to a pro.
