How to Connect the Hose to a Pool Vacuum

How you connect the hose to your pool vacuum varies by the type of pool vacuum and the model. Manual pool vacuums connect to a garden hose, which then connects to your water spigot. Automatic pool vacuums connect to your skimmer and are assembled with a series of hoses to extend throughout your pool. Connecting the hoses to your vacuum so that it is operational also requires that you connect the hose to the water source.

Instructions

1. Twist the water hose onto the hose connection on a manual vacuum, usually located on the vacuum's head or shaft. Keep turning the hose until it feels tightly secured

2. Twist the opposite end of the water hose onto the water spigot.

3. Push the male ends of the hoses into the female ends if you are using an automatic pool vacuum.

4. Connect the hoses to the cleaner's hose connection. Some vacuums may contain a leader hose specifically for connecting to the cleaner; attach this hose section last when all other hose sections are connected.

5. Connect enough hose lengths to reach from the skimmer to the farthest part of your pool. Add an additional two or three hose sections so it has plenty of slack while cleaning.

6. Attach the hose end to your skimmer's suction line. Some models come with an adapter that fits into the line before you can attach the hose.
