How to Locate a 2007 Tax Refund

If you have filed a federal income tax return in the year 2007 and have not received your refund, the Internal Revenue Service offices can help trace the status of your refund. Depending on the current year, you may not be eligible to file for another refund for 2007. The deadline for filing a for tax refund for 2007 is April 15, 2011.

Instructions

1. Find your old 2007 federal income tax return. You will need to provide a copy of the form and the information to the IRS.

2. Call the IRS office's main service center at 800-829-1040. Ask to speak with an IRS Records Department representative.

3. Request the representative to perform a trace. If your 2007 tax refund was sent back to the IRS from the U.S. Postal Service, the representative can tell you the status of your refund. If the check has not been cashed or was deemed "undeliverable," the IRS will re-issue you another refund since it has been more than two years since your refund was sent out.
