How to Check College Application Status

Check your college application status online.

Applying to college can be a stressful experience that is only exasperated by the time spent waiting to hear back from the school. Most schools offer potential students the ability to view the status of their pending application online by logging in to a specific page on their official school website. Each school's website is slightly different, but the general method of checking the status of an application is the same.

Instructions

1. Access your potential college or university's official website. This can be done directly or by using a search engine such as Google or Yahoo! to search for the page.

2. Locate the application status portion of the website. This may be under a link called "new students" or "prospective students." Each school's website is set up slightly differently.

3. Log into the application status page by entering the requested information. This may be your name, Social Security number, student number and/or term for which you applied.

4. View the application status page. This will tell you whether your application has been received and viewed, along with stating whether you have been accepted to the school.
