How to Create a High School Diploma for Free

Use tools on your computer and online template galleries to create a high school diploma for free. Templates are useful, as the layouts have already been pre-formatted, so using these for your projects will reduce design and formatting time. You can add your own data or modify the templates to create a unique and classy design for your diploma.

Instructions

  1. Microsoft Word 2010

      Click the "File" tab and select "New." A column will appear on the right side of your screen. Search for "Diploma" under "Templates." Download the high school diploma template by clicking the corresponding result and the right "Download" button.

      Highlight the default text in the high school diploma. Type your personalized text in the highlighted fields.

      Save the changes by clicking the "Save" icon on the Quick Access Toolbar.

    OpenOffice

      Access the OpenOffice website. Type "Diploma" in the search box and hit "Enter." Review the matching diploma templates. Download the template by clicking the "Use This" button.

      Visit the Documentic website. Click the "Award Certificates & Diplomas" link at the top of the page. Select a template color style in step one.

      Customize the diploma details by editing the first line of customizable text. Change the college reference to your high school name. On the next available line, add the name that you want to appear on the diploma.

      Edit the requirement sections to include references to the high school. Change the "Bachelor Degree" reference to "High School Diploma." Lastly, change the degree reference in the last sentence to "Diploma."

      Click "Download Diploma" to download the edited pdf diploma to your computer. The file opens in a new window. Right-click the diploma and select "Save As." Type a name for the newly created diploma.
