Get sparkling clear swimming pools with regular use of a Hayward swimming pool sweeper.

Keeping your pool clean enough to enjoy swimming in it is a large part of the pool maintenance schedule. There are a wide variety of tools available for cleaning your pool, but short of a full-duty pool boy, one of the most effective tools on the market is an automatic pool sweeper such as the Hayward line of swimming pool sweepers. A Hayward swimming pool sweeper crawls about the floor and walls of your pool, removing dirt and debris that would otherwise clog your filter or downgrade the water quality. After a successful setup, you submerge the unit and allow it to do the rest, cleaning your entire pool in a few hours. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Examine the power supply or consult the owner's manual to determine the voltage used by your pool sweeper. Locate a power outlet of the appropriate voltage (110- to 120-volt, or 220- to 240-volt). Run the power cable from the outlet to position the unit's power supply no closer than 11.5 feet from the swimming pool for safety. Plug the floating cable running from the swimming pool sweeper into the power supply.

    • 2

Press the small latch located on the left side of the sweeper above the handle slot and then slide one side of the handle towards the front of the unit and the other side towards the rear. Release the latch to lock the handle into position. Test the handle so it doesn't move from its position. Place the pool sweeper into the water and allow it to sink completely to the bottom.

    • 3

Plug the power cord into the outlet. Flip the power switch on the power supply to "On" and wait a few minutes as the sweeper runs through a self-diagnostic mode. After completion, the sweeper will begin cleaning the pool. The cleaning time depends on the particular sweeper model type used.

    • 4

Flip the power switch to "Off" after the cleaning cycle completes. You can recognize the end of the cycle when the sweeper stays still. Examine the pool for any remaining dirt or debris. Leave the switch "Off" for 10 minutes and then switch it back to "On" again to repeat a cleaning cycle if needed. Switch back to "Off" when completed.

    • 5

Pull the sweeper along the pool bottom to the shallow end using the cable and then lift it from the water by the handle. Unplug the power cord and power supply for storage between uses.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not allow the sweeper to remain in the pool when not in use as this may cause eventual damage to the unit.
