How to Tuft Carpet Fibers
The variety of different color options and textures can make carpeting appealing to homeowners and renters, even though carpets lose their durability and usually require regular cleaning and maintenance. Instead of installing an expanse of new carpet due to wear or damage, consider repairing the affected area. You can save money by tufting carpet fibers yourself with a tuft setter, replacement carpet fibers and a few tools. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Apply latex cement with a painter's brush under the carpet backing. This will hold the carpet fibers or yarn fibers in place during the tufting process.
-
2
Place the carpet fiber tuft into the position on the floor. Use a hammer to gently press the fiber into the carpet backing.

3
Continue to tap the tuft setter until the carpet fiber is at your desired length. If you are tufting for looped carpets, set the yard fiber into position in the tuft setter and tap the long end of the yarn fiber with a hammer until the long end secures itself into the backing.
