How to Body Drop an S-10
Dropping your Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck is a popular way to customize the truck and give it a look that sets it apart from other trucks on the road. A common way owners drop the body of their S-10 is by installing an air-ride suspension, which sets the ride height of the vehicle significantly lower relative to the factory ride height of the S-10. The specific installation procedure for an air suspension will vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, however, the installation process remains fundamentally the same.

1
Remove the factory struts, which are the front shocks, and factory rear shocks from your S-10. The specific removal procedure will vary from model year to model year as the S-10 has seen different generations of production.
-
2
Determine the location for your new air-ride suspension's air compressor. Typically, these are placed in the trunk of the vehicle or another location that does not provide an obvious indicator that the factory suspension has been replaced.
-
-
3
Route the air compression hoses from the air compressor to each of the four corners of your S-10.
-
4
Install the aftermarket air-ride struts and rear shocks, following the specific installation instructions provided by the suspension's manufacturer.
-
5
Connect the air compression hoses to each of the struts and shocks, then follow the calibration procedure set forth by the suspension's manufacturer. Calibrating the suspension will allow all four corners to sit at an even ride height and enable a synchronous adjustment of the front and rear ends of the vehicle.
