How to Unlock the Flood in Halo 3 for the Xbox 360
The Flood are a race of parasitic aliens in the Halo series who flood areas and overwhelm them with their sheer volume. Halo 3 features new types of Flood monsters and requires that you unlock them from their prison and deal with them before progressing through the game. Once they're unlocked, you must be swift on your feet to eradicate them effectively.

Play through Halo 3 until you reach the "Floodgate" mission, which takes place aboard a ship that has breached the quarantine area.

Fight your way through the mission, and board the Ark. The Flood's leader, Gravemind, will follow you.

Watch the cutscene in which your character forms an alliance with Gravemind to stop the activation of Halo's rings. Gravemind will now help you as you play through the level to stop the firing sequence.

Stop the activation sequence by playing through to the generator room with Gravemind in tow. He will immediately turn on you, unleashing the Flood upon you and all humans in the ship. You have now unlocked the flood.
