How to Hook Up Kicker Cvr Subs to Regular Speakers
Hooking up Kicker CVR (CompVR) subwoofers to the existing speakers in a car's stereo system is not a matter of plug and play. These subwoofers are high performance, power-hungry speakers that require an amplifier. Adding these subwoofers to a vehicle's stereo requires the user to first purchase an amplifier that matches the speakers. The CompVRs come in 8-, 10-, 12- and 15-inch models; each with its own power requirements. Kicker recommends using amplifiers manufactured by it.

1
Mount the CompVR in the trunk of the car. Mount the amplifier as close to the subwoofer enclosure as possible; this increases efficiency.

2
RCA audio cables are used to transmit audio signals. Connect RCA audio wires to the preamp outputs on the vehicles head-unit. Remember to match white with white and red with red.

3
Run the RCA cable to the amplifier and connect them to the amp's "Audio In" ports.
-
4
Connect a speaker wire to the amplifier's positive "speaker/audio out" terminal. Connect the other end of this wire to the speaker's positive power terminal. Connect a second speaker wire to the amplifier's negative "speaker/audio out" terminal. Connect the other end of this wire to the speaker's negative power terminal. Repeat this process for each additional speaker.

Connect a power wire to the amplifier's +12 V power terminal. Connect a second power wire to the amplifier's ground or negative power terminal. Connect the other ends of these wires to the car's battery. Remember to make sure the positive wire connects to the positive terminal and negative with negative.
